Excerpt: Fall TV Preview & More--Reality is fast setting in for students across the country that summer break is now over and it's time once again to hit the books as well as reconnect with classmates. The month of September also marks a significant time for the major TV networks in anticipation of the start of the new TV season.
The annual Youth Trends Fall Television Preview Report provides of glimpse of what to expect as panelists' rate their likelihood of viewing after reading synopses and watching trailers. This year panelists rated a total of 26 new TV series. After viewing the trailers and reading the synopses, panelists then rated their planned viewing using scale of 1 to 10 where 10 meant they were very likely to watch the premiere episode and 1 meant they were very unlikely to watch it.
Generally speaking, this fall's group of 26 new series rated considerably higher overall compared to last fall. Eleven of the 26 new shows received a net rating above 5.0, while last year only 7 of 23 new shows came in above half-way mark of 5.0.
