Summary

Excerpt: Graduation Looms Under a Cloud of Uncertainty—Timing is everything. With graduation season fast approaching and no economic rebound in sight, this sure seems like an inauspicious time to make the leap into the workforce. A growing number of graduating seniors are coming to grips with the harsh reality that despite all of their hard work and effort in earning their degree, landing a job this summer is anything but guaranteed.

To that end, this month we're shifting gears from our traditional quantitative immersion analysis to highlight thoughtful commentary from a select group of our panelists, all of whom will graduate later this spring.

One thing that jumps off the page right away is their sense of resiliency. In more recent years we would commonly describe the graduating class as being optimistic and confident and to a lesser degree somewhat arrogant. You can think of the trend evolving from "I will" or "I want" to "I believe I am able to" or "I am up for the challenge." By no means is this semantics, rather this represents a huge change in mind set.
